With so many places to discover in Italy’s largest mainland region, it can be hard to choose the perfect spot—so why not let the stars guide you?

Just for fun, I decided to kick off the year with a little travel astrology, so you can find your ideal Piedmont getaway based on your star sign.

Call them fearless or feckless, Aries likes to lead the way and go where others fear to tread: in Piedmont, that usually means the mountains.

Bulls will feel at home tucked away in a luxury agriturismo in Roccaverano in Alta Langa, home to one of Piedmont’s most prized cheeses, where the slow pace and rugged scenery make for a perfect countryside escape.

Gemini

Chatty Gemini would cross the world multiple times on the trail of a Big Idea. These cerebral travellers can satisfy their intellectual curiosity in Turin, which was Europe’s city of innovation and sustainability in 2025, and continues to lead the way as a European innovation hub, hosting Startup Night and Italian Tech Week in 2026.

Cancer

If you can convince Cancer to get on the flight, they’ll need a home away from home on the other side. This sign is drawn to places that offer nostalgia, cosiness, heritage, and of course, water.

Acqui Terme, with its thermal baths and Roman ruins, fits the bill perfectly, making an ideal spot for a crab to fully immerse itself in Piedmont—in every sense.

Leo

Dramatic Leo wants to be where the action is, and if there’s a special occasion or the chance to be the centre of attention, they’ll take it.

This sign will fall in love with the ancient royal town of Bra—home to both the Slow Food movement and the University of Gastronomic Sciences, which set the gold standard for food quality in Italy.

Libra

Beauty and balance are Libra’s idea of bliss, and nowhere embodies these qualities better than Piedmont’s lakes, Orta and Maggiore, where elegant turn-of-the-century hotels overlook mirror-flat Alpine lakes.

Sagittarius

Impossible to contain, Sagittarius craves adventure and open horizons. The high valleys of the Gran Paradiso or Val Maira suit the centaur’s need for freedom, big landscapes, and the thrill of exploration.

Capricorn

Ruled by disciplinarian Saturn, Capricorn values hard work and discipline (even when they’re on holiday). The sea goat will find kindred spirits in the wineries of Barolo and Barbaresco, where centuries of patience and painstaking effort have produced world-class wines.

Never one to follow the crowd, quirky Aquarius prefers the road less travelled. The ethereal high-altitude wine regions to the north of Turin, like Ivrea and Canavese, are practically made for the water-bearer.

Even the wines are unusual here, with local expressions of Nebbiolo called Prünent and the white Erbaluce.

Pisces

Idealistic Pisces will find solace in Oasi Zegna, a 100km-squared natural park founded by the creator of the Zegna fashion house. Ahead of his time, he believed industrial success came with a moral obligation to protect both people and nature.
